MERINO HISTORY:
The Merino sheep breed originated in Spain in the 14th century and were prized for their wonderful fleece. The Merino sheep breed is known not only for its super fine crimpy fleece, but also for its flocking instincts and adaptability to many types of climates.
The Merino is considered a medium sized sheep and adult rams weigh between 150 lbs to 200 lbs. Adult ewes generally weigh in at 100 lbs to 150 lbs.
For more information about the Merino sheep and its history, please visit The American Delaine & Merino Record Association at www.admra.org
All of our white Merino sheep are registered through the ADMRA and all of our colored (moorit) Merino sheep are registered through the Natural Colored Wool Growers Association (NCWGA). At Gale Farms we breed for not only a fine and crimpy fleece, but for animals that have strong mothering skills and can deliver lambs without assistance.
The 2008 spring lambs are here! Please feel free to visit our sale page to view sale animals.

For centuries, the Great Pyrenees has been used to guard and protect sheep and lambs from predators and other dangers. Here, at Gale Farms we are lucky to have two wonderful Great Pyrenees, named Bonnie and Clyde. In addition to being excellent Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGD), they are also wonderful, gentle and beautiful companions. Occasionally we have Great Pyrenee puppies and rescued LGD's available for adoption. Please contact us for availability.
